John Wallar is a rising 11th grader at Special Music School and a percussionist in the school's new music ensemble, Face the Music. When he was younger, he joined a rock band and soon discovered a passion for classical music. During his studies at SMS, John mastered complex mallet percussion pieces from the classical canon, while also playing alternative percussion instruments, such as used junk car parts (watch that performance), in Face the Music.

John enjoys his small and supportive communities at Face the Music and Special Music School. Through his passion for music, he developed additional interests for audio recording, studio production, and cinematography. Music and technology teach him how to be hardworking, detail oriented and thorough - traits that will help him achieve his goal of studying electrical engineering in college.

We are very proud of John and have no doubt that he will do incredible things in the future. Please consider helping John and his classmates continue to grow by supporting the Fund for Music Education today.
