The 64th Summer Awards Concert honors the Winners of the 2016 Galeton, PA Ole Bull Music Festival, the Inez Bull and Ole Bull Scholarship Recipients and select Students of South Valley Arts, East Orange, NJ.

Dr. Inez Stewart Bull (1920-2010), a concert pianist and coloratura soprano, was born in Newark, New Jersey.  She was a lifelong NJ resident and a graduate of Juilliard and NYU, who dedicated her life to music, to nurturing, educating and mentoring young people, and to improving Norwegian-American relations. In the early 1950’s, she and her mother, the late Aurora Stewart Bull, established the Ole Bull Music Festival and Summer Awards Concert in memory of their relative, Norwegian violinist, composer and folk hero, Ole Bornemann Bull (1810-1880).

The annual Festival held in Galeton, PA each October and the Awards Concert held the following summer in New York, NY, provide opportunities for young people to perform and receive recognition for their work, and to network with other young musicians from within and outside of their communities. The Spunky Norwegian Foundation was formed in 2011 to continue Dr. Bull’s traditions.
