The Jews of Shushan are in danger, but Queen Esther is around to save the day! Our lighthearted look at the Biblical story of Esther combines catchy songs, comic characters and plenty of audience participation – plus a cookie! Kids can boo the villain Haman and cheer on Queen Esther, who convinces her husband King Ahasuerus to spare the Jews. Purim is Feb 24.

About the Artists
The Poppy Seed Players are Kaufman Music Center’s resident theater company — an ensemble of writers, performers and teachers dedicated to exploring and celebrating Jewish culture through musical theater. Both at the Center and throughout the tri-state area, the Players have performed original productions including Latkes and Applesauce, Queen Esther, David and Goliath, Yo, Jonah!, Number The Stars, Joseph and Koza, A Tree Grows Up, Judy and the Maccabees, Young Moses and Sunshine. The Players have also worked in residence at local schools, helping children to write and perform their own musical theater pieces on such subjects as the rescue of the Danish Jews during World War II.
The Kaufman Kids is a special chorus of children enrolled in Kaufman Music Center’s Lucy Moses School or Special Music School that performs with the Poppy Seed Players in their holiday plays.
Kaufman Music Center is New York’s creative home for music education and performance.
