The New York Flute Club, the oldest woodwind organization in the world, celebrates its centennial with a who's who of New York's finest flutists in a program of works premiered at the Club or closely associated with it. Carol Wincenc performs the world premiere of its centennial commission, Gabriela Lena Frank's "Five Andean Improvisations." Also appearing are New York Philharmonic flutists Robert Langevin and Mindy Kaufman, Paula Robison, and innovative flutist-composer Robert Dick. Linda Chesis is soloist in Henry Brant's rarely heard "Angels and Devils" for flute and flute orchestra, which was premiered by NYFC founder Georges Barrère in 1931.
