ECSTATIC® Summer Takes Over Hudson River Waterfront Site
for Two River to River Festival Concerts
Sat, June 29 & Sun, June 30, 5 pm
Brookfield Place Plaza, 220 Vesey St., NYC
This year’s ECSTATIC® Summer event – part concert and part “happening” – will take over Brookfield Place with over a dozen musicians featuring two full sets of newly commissioned, collaboratively-based music; one for brass and the other for percussion. The ensembles Tilt Brass, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and Mantra Percussion will join musicians from different musical worlds – including members of groups such as the National, yMusic, Plastic Ono Band and many more – to perform specially-commissioned works by Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Reggie Pace (Bon Iver, No BS Brass Band, Fight the Big Bull), Dave Douglas, Holly Herndon, Susie Ibarra, People Get Ready and Seth Olinsky (Akron/Family).
Organized by New Amsterdam Presents in association with Kaufman Music Center and co-presented with Arts Brookfield, ECSTATIC® Summer’s sets will be completely acoustic, site-specific events, designed to fill the stunning waterfront plaza of Brookfield Place, formerly known as the World Financial Center. ECSTATIC® Summer is affiliated with the three-year-old Ecstatic Music Festival®, which is presented by Kaufman Music Center at Merkin Concert Hall and curated by Judd Greenstein. The festival brings together innovative artists for adventurous collaborations between musicians from the indie/pop and classical realms.
