Summer Musical Theater Workshop

New York City offers many summer activities for kids, but where else can they perform original musicals written just for them on the stage of a major concert hall? Kids participate in all aspects of producing a show in this 6-week workshop, which culminates in a full-scale production in Merkin Concert Hall. Final performances take place on July 31st and August 1st.

Campers work together with small groups of children based on their current grade. In the morning they take classes in acting, singing and movement. During the afternoon each group works with its director and interns to create its own musical play. Participants will take theater trips and receive a t-shirt and a video of the final production.

The theme for the musicals in this year’s workshop is "Dreams" — not just nighttime dreams, but also daydreams, nightmares, aspirations, visions, pipe dreams and dreams-come-true.

An Early Room is available! Parents may drop off children beginning at 8:30 am for arts and crafts activities. For pricing info, call 212 501 3360.

Internships: Work/study internships are available for students ages 16 to 18.
