Kids can sample a menagerie of string and wind instruments with faculty members from Kaufman Music Center’s Lucy Moses School, NYC’s largest community arts school.
"I'm so pleased for Lucy Moses School to be part of this exciting season of the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony,” says LMS Director Igal Kesselman. “The whole ethos around the InsideOut format is about bringing people closer to the gifts that music has to impart, and that is what LMS is about as well, so to join forces to offer young people a day of music they will never forget is something we are greatly looking forward to."
Park Avenue Chamber Symphony’s season begins with a wickedly enjoyable celebration of Halloween. Saint Saens’s hauntingly evocative Danse Macabre, featuring devilish violin solos and spine-tingling skeleton xylophone solos is the perfect way to set the Halloween mood. You will then be taken on a wild ride through cauldrons and witches with Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.
The 2 pm event designed for children under 13 accompanied by adult chaperones is geared towards children and their caregivers. This experience introduces classical music making to children using a selection of movements of symphonies and other works. It is designed to build enthusiasm in classical music, inspiring children to take up instruments and join an ensemble.
