The Lucy Moses School and Chamber Music Associates (CMA) partnership is a unique and flexible chamber program! Musicians play new pieces on a weekly basis, without fixed ensembles or fixed repertoire. CMA offers three structured workshop formats and open studios for other groupings.
For pianists, there are two trio rooms, staffed by professional string players, one with a coach and one without. The coached room operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your turn includes 20 minutes to play one movement and receive comments from the coach. Then it is someone else's turn. The non-coached room can be booked ahead of time for 30 minute slots, enough to play a whole piece or work on one movement intensely. There is a professional violist to make quartets, as desired. Other options include two-piano or piano four-hand.
For string players, there is a strings-only workshop that plays trios or quartets. These groups include playing with a cello coach.
For wind players, there is a wind workshop, with playing coach and frequent piano members for accompaniment.
Bring some music you might like to play – all parts – or use music from our extensive chamber library. Part of the fun is grabbing another member and forming whatever grouping you want to create!
