In this exciting workshop, students will complete original compositions and present them in meetings and performances by faculty and professional ensembles. The curriculum includes in-depth listening and score analysis; guided exercises in harmony, counterpoint and compositional techniques; structures such as sonata and fugue forms; and styles such as minimalism. This class also features lectures by composers and performers drawn from New York's vibrant music scene. Each new piece appears in concert at NYC venues like Le Poisson Rouge, Merkin Concert Hall and Symphony Space.
