String quartet musicians from Kaufman Music Center’s Face the Music teen new music program join accomplished high school musicians from across the U.S. for a performance of six new pieces commissioned by Kronos Quartet’s 50 for the Future project, a free library of fifty contemporary works designed to guide string quartets in developing and honing the skills required for the performance of 21st-century repertoire. This catalogue of newly-commissioned works representing cultures all across the globe is a much-needed update to centuries-old repertoire that boasts an unprecedented scope and impact.
The program includes short conversations with Face the Music members Olga Tytarenko (11:44) and Teddy Diamond (28:21).
