Allison Charney, soprano
Craig Ketter, piano
This concert features “Queen of the Flute” Carol Wincenc and one of PREFORMANCES' favorite pianists, Blair McMillen. Royal Stockholm Philharmonic cellist Kajsa William-Olsson and violist Daniel Panner also return to our stage along with the series’ debut of mezzo-soprano Augusta Caso, hailed by the New York Times for her "compelling...courageous, expressive and poignant singing." Hear them all plus series founder, soprano Allison Charney and collaborative pianist Craig Ketter as they prepare for their upcoming concerts and break down the traditional barriers that exist between classical music audiences and performers.
The program features operatic selections from Donizetti’s “La Favorita” and Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” and 20th century masterpieces by Chaminade, Hindemith, Messiaen and Strauss plus music of our times by Katherine Hoover and Victoria Malawey.
At PREformances with Allison Charney you will hear celebrated classical musicians in anticipation of their upcoming performances on the world’s most prestigious stages. Join curator and host, acclaimed opera singer Allison Charney, as she guides the audience through a behind-the-scenes glimpse at these top-level artists' practices and performances, all while breaking the traditional barriers that exist between classical music performers and audience members.
