SMS Spring Choral Concert

Students in grades K-8 at Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School, NYC's only K-12 public school that teaches music as a core subject, perform choral works under the direction of Emily John, Sean Hartley and Yukiko Konishi.

Program

First and Second Grade repertoire TBA
Third Graders  -  Musical play Cows in School
Fourth Graders  -  A suite of their original songs
Fifth Graders  -  Two movements from Gabriel Fauré’s Messe Basse, a French-Canadian folksong and Glettur by Stephen Hatfield
Vox Nova Choirs (Grades 6-8)  -  Repertoire related to historical events including WW II, the Harlem Renasissance, the Industrial Revolution, the Suffragette movement and more, plus an anthem from 1001 Voices: A Symphony for a New America
Community Chorus of parents, teachers and staff
