Face the Music & Mazz Swift with International Contemporary Ensemble at Roulette

Face the Music performs with the artist collective hailed as “America’s foremost new-music group” (Alex Ross) and “the new gold standard for new-music” (The New Yorker). They will perform works by Mazz Swift following a residency with the vocalist, composer and Juilliard-trained violinist.

The program includes two works TBD by Mazz Swift and “Seven Sundays” by Todd Reynolds, plus songs by Face the Music songwriters including the world premiere of “Singing Planets & Tsunamis” by Illaria Hawley.

Kaufman Music Center’s 100+ member Face the Music is the country’s only teen program dedicated to studying and performing post-genre music by trailblazing contemporary composers. Praised for “stunning performances” by the New York Times, Face the Music features a collection of ensembles including a chamber orchestra, a jazz big-band, an improvisation collective, string quartets and mixed chamber-ensembles, all dedicated to studying and performing experimental, new-classical, new-jazz and avant-garde music written exclusively by living composers.
