Sirena Beard-Galati is an 11th grader at Special Music School, where she studies composition. She says: “Through practicing your craft you start to discover your voice. It’s very important for children and growing teenagers to be surrounded by music.”

At a young age, Sirena was diagnosed with dyslexia. Through learning to become a songwriter, she has found her voice, building confidence and overcoming challenges. Special Music School has enhanced Sirena’s musical skills. She loves the School’s “amazing” teachers, and feels challenged in innovative and creative ways.

Now, Sirena shares her passion for music with others, dedicating time to teach youth guitar lessons in her neighborhood. Upon graduation, Sirena aspires to enroll in NYU’s composition program, write musicals, and form her own band. We are proud of Sirena, and know she will achieve her goals!
