Dear Friends,
Last year, we set an ambitious goal for Kaufman Music Center: double the Center’s operating endowment and help to secure our financial future for generations to come. In doing so, we set out to raise $10 million to strengthen the Center’s position as the artistic home of students, artists, and audience members of all ages and abilities and to ensure that our programs will remain available for individuals from all walks of life long into the future.
Elaine and Henry Kaufman helped to launch this effort with a transformational $5 million challenge gift. The response from our community has been extraordinary: with your help, we have raised more for the Center’s operating endowment in the last year than we have in the last decade. We are 90% toward completing our Kaufman Family Challenge Campaign goal.
Ever in search of new ways to serve our community, this year, we were also proud to expand our Scholarship Fund through Pathways, which gives even more young people the life-changing opportunity to learn to play an instrument. We welcomed our first cohort of students this fall, who receive weekly private lessons with our dedicated faculty members, participate in classes and ensembles, and who will build their skills in masterclasses, workshops, concerts, and more. In doing so, we hope to change lives, launch careers, and fundamentally change the music field in ways that are genuinely inclusive.
