Music Education

Scholarships are a central component of Kaufman Center’s mission as a community school. Each year, the Center awards hundreds of scholarships for young people to study music, theater and dance at Lucy Moses School, ensuring that our high quality arts programs remain accessible to all who wish to participate.

Donations of any amount are appreciated. Some specific ways you can enrich a young person’s life by supporting their study of music include:

  • Lucy Moses School Scholarship Fund: Give a child the chance to achieve their full potential through the study of the performing arts – $1,000 (average cost of tuition for one year of private lessons)

  • Summer Musical Theater Workshop Scholarship: Sponsor the opportunity of a lifetime for a New York City student to learn firsthand about how a show is written and produced — $1,500 (average cost of attendance per student)

  • Success Through Suzuki Scholarship: Help a low-income student in Harlem achieve a high level of proficiency in music by supporting their participation in this program that provides private and group lessons, group instruction for parents, and year-round performance opportunities — $2,500 (average cost per student)

  • Young Artist Program Scholarship: Enable a talented high school musician to participate in a rigorous, pre-collegiate music program that includes private instruction, theory and ensemble classes, and mentoring in preparation for college and a future career in music — $5,000 (full tuition for one year)
