Special Music School Chorus Performs at Presidential Inauguration

The crowds lining the Mall at the Presidential Inauguration on Monday, January 21 were treated to a special performance, via video, of the Special Music School Elementary Chorus performing the song "We Have the Power" by Sean Hartley, Director of Kaufman Music Center's Theater Wing, and Jihwan Kim. Congratulations to Sean, Jihwan and the children!

Kaufman Center's 2012 Summer String Fest concluded on August 17 with a rousing final concert in Merkin Concert Hall with works by Copland, Schubert, Barber, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninoff. Directed by Lynelle Smith, the instensive week-long program for kids age 10-19 includes private lessons along with chamber orchestra and sectional instruction.

ComposerCraft Students to Premiere Works at (Le) Poisson Rouge on May 19

On Saturday, May 19 at 1 pm, the Grammy-nominated Metropolis Ensemble will perform works composed by ComposerCraft students from Kaufman Center's Lucy Moses School and Special Music School: Paris Lavidis, Mai Brown, Abe Gold, Zachary Detrick, Sofia Belimova and Kyrie McIntosh at downtown performance venue (Le) Poisson Rouge, as part of 2012's Youth Works program.
