Moving beyond interval reading in the context of key, students are introduced to a new set of techniques which enable them to move flexibly among tonal centers, and help to identify the musical conventions that govern the standard tensions and resolutions of Western music. Intermediate II stresses intensive eye-training and pattern-recognition skills that can be applied at all levels, with particular emphasis on the reading of chromatic passages.
