“I have grown so much as an amateur flutist in the chamber music program, learning to listen to my fellow musicians and working on dynamics, intonation and technique. But in the end, it is all about having fun making music with others and sharing in the joy of collaboration. Lucy Moses School has become my musical family.” – Chamber Ensemble Member

Ensembles for Adults
Share your love of music by playing in a chamber music ensemble! Our experienced coaches give you the guidance you need for intensive study of the chamber music repertoire. Ensembles comprise various combinations of instruments including piano, woodwinds and strings. Pre-formed ensembles are also welcome. Each session includes one hour of rehearsal and one hour of coaching with the group's faculty coach. During fall and spring semesters, chamber groups can take place on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays with other days available upon request.

Ensembles for Young People
Instrumentalists with strong technical ability on their instrument have the opportunity to play and perform together in small chamber combinations. Students participating in chamber music are also required to have strong sight-reading skills. Chamber groups are formed in the beginning of the academic year, though placement during the year is also possible. Groups may be selected to perform at ChamberFest in Merkin Hall. Students may also participate in a variety of String Ensembles.

Chamber Music Associates
Chamber Music Associates is a unique and flexible chamber music program where participants can explore new repertoire each week or bring back recurring pieces to build over time. The first semester often leans toward exploration, while the second semester encourages musicians to settle on a work to prepare for an optional year-end recital. CMA offers several workshop formats including piano trio rooms, strings and winds workshops, as well as open studios for self-organized ensembles.
