On November 18, the Kaufman Music Center community came together in Merkin Hall to celebrate the launch of "Who Is Florence Price?," the new children's book written and illustrated by students at our Special Music School. Published internationally by Schirmer Books/Wise Music Group, the book tells the story of a brilliant musician who prevailed against race and gender prejudices to become the first Black woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer and performed by a major American orchestra. Watch Special Music School middle school and high school musicians perform Price's music and introduce the book!
