Michael Dadap is dedicating this concert of Filipino works on his 80th Birthday celebration to raise scholarships for students with financial need at the Children's Orchestra Society. It is the culmination of a lifetime of works inspired by his homeland, filled with nostalgia for the many years he was away from home, reminiscing on the people, customs and celebrations of his hometown.
This is COS's 56th Season of teaching children and young adults to play classical music and presenting them in orchestral and chamber music concerts with their peers and well-established musicians. The primary goals of the Orchestra are to sustain and strengthen performance programs such as the concert series, regularly scheduled classes in chamber music, musicianship, and master classes, and to maintain a teaching and administrative staff that supports the growing membership in these programs.
