WHAT MAKES IT GREAT?
With host Rob Kapilow and featuring David Krakauer, clarinet and Ivalas Quartet
Celebrate Hanukkah with a deep dive into Golijov's transcendent meditation on language, identity, memory and the divine. Host Rob Kapilow and the acclaimed Ivalas Quartet team up with David Krakauer, widely considered one of the greatest clarinetists alive and a key innovator in modern klezmer as well as a major voice in classical music. Named after a 13th-century Kabbalist from France, Golijov’s masterpiece is an epic history of Judaism that blends mysticism with klezmer, classical, liturgical and popular music while retaining an utterly accessible, deeply personal voice. Each movement musically embodies the emotional and spiritual character of three languages associated with Jewish history: Aramaic, Yiddish and Hebrew.

Ivalas Quartet are the 2025-26 Kaufman Fellows.
The Kaufman Fellows program is fully underwritten by Rose Hirschel.
