MUSICIANS ON THE RISE
Trailblazing chamber musicians Poiesis Quartet and rising star pianist Amiri Harewood perform a uniquely beautiful evening of musical homages and tributes. The evening is framed with Gabriela Lena Frank's Tres Homenajes for piano quintet, while Poiesis explores two musical homages in Tate's Pisachi and Nabor’s String Quartet, and Harewood creates a musical dialogue between Shostakovich and Bach in their respective Preludes and Fugues. An emerging young “ensemble to watch” (Hyde Park Herald), Poiesis Quartet is the 2025 Grand Prize winner of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the 2023 Grand Prize winner of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and winner of the 2024 Concert Artists Guild Competition. Amiri Harewood is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 Concert Artist Guild and Young Classical Artists Trust competitions, and this appearance at Kaufman Music Center is part of his North American debut tour.
