Founded in 1984 by renowned tenor and conductor Chungmao Zhu, Haiyun Chorus is one of the oldest and longest-running Chinese-language choruses on the East Coast. This year, they have the pleasure of celebrating 40 years spanning hundreds of concerts serving New York and New Jersey, showcasing Chinese choral music, opera, orchestra, and diverse cultural performances.

For their 40th anniversary concert, under the leadership of conductor Shuang Guo and longtime accompanist Dihua Lin, they will be focusing on their beginnings as a vocal music group, performing notable Chinese folk songs and recognizable English songs such as Amazing Grace and New York, New York as a tribute to the multicultural identity of the city, with a special performance by Seattle chorus led by former founding Haiyun conductor Yayu Khoe.
