Celebrating the centenary of Modesta Bor, one of Venezuela’s most distinctive composers, this program places her music at its center, revealing a composer who embraced the music of the people as a vital source for classical expression. Rooted in Venezuela’s nationalist movement, Bor drew on folk rhythms and popular traditions, weaving merengue, joropo, and other Venezuelan dances into a musical language uniquely her own.
