Joanna Schubert is a Brooklyn-based music educator and singer-songwriter. She earned her BA in Music from Skidmore College. Current and past education work includes music directing various musical theater programs (LMS, Brooklyn Acting Lab, Cambridge’s New School of Music, Greater Boston Stage Company), founding and leading the Youth Songwriting Collective and Sing What You Love vocal groups, teaching general music and chorus in various Boston public schools, and maintaining a private piano, voice, and songwriting studio. As a singer-songwriter, Joanna writes, records, and performs her own lyrical chamber-pop music under the moniker Oropendola, a tropical bird whose name translates to "golden pendulum."
