Ken James Kubota has redefined the classical music career, celebrated by The New York Times for his “dynamic” and “polished” musicianship while also gaining widespread recognition as a social media content creator. Known for pioneering a unique style of strumming the cello like a guitar, Kubota is a founding member of Empire Wild, a genre-blending trio that won the 2020 Ambassador Prize from Concert Artists Guild. He is also the founder and producer of JHMJams, an online video series featuring pop covers performed by classical and jazz musicians. A graduate of The Juilliard School with both B.M. and M.M. degrees, Kubota is a registered Suzuki teacher and has served on the faculty at Peabody Preparatory. His primary teachers include Richard Aaron, Anthony Elliott, and Alice Ann O’Neill.
