LIAISONS: Reimagining Sondheim From the Piano

“To hear composers take my work and take it seriously… it’s a thrill.”
– Stephen Sondheim

Conceived by acclaimed concert pianist Anthony de Mare, LIAISONS is a landmark commissioning and concert project that brings together today’s leading classical, jazz, theater, film and indie composers to re-imagine Stephen Sondheim’s songs as solo piano pieces. This remarkable compendium of new music breaks open the boundaries between musical theater and concert music while making the case for Sondheim as one of today’s most influential composers.

Conrad Tao will join Mr. de Mare for the premiere of his two-piano work Move On, as well as a reprise of Steve Reich's Finishing the Hat – Two Pianos.
