Face the Music
Kaufman Music Center's Face the Music is the country's only youth ensemble dedicated to studying and performing music by living composers.
THE CALL FOR SCORES DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOV 1.
Advancing its commitment to promoting the work of living composers, Face the Music studies and performs music written by its own members. Any young composers between eight and 18 may submit their music through Face the Music’s Call for Scores! Pieces are considered for coaching sessions and performances or reading sessions. To submit a piece, please email your score to email@example.com.
Face the Music is a unique youth orchestra: An ensemble and collective music-making program where young and committed musicians use the music of today as a vehicle to explore collaborative decision-making and develop leadership skills. With two orchestras, a jazz big band, an experimental-improvisation collective, string quartets, a composer program, and many chamber music ensembles, Face the Music encourages and empowers young musicians to contribute to the vibrant texture of today's contemporary music scene.
This season Face the Music will perform at Merkin Concert Hall, WNYC's Greene Space, Queens Museum, Roulette and more. Click here for the full concert schedule.
